This type of Fin and Bulb design first appeared in the 1890's however the materials and knowledge of the time led very quickly to structural problems as the boats were raced hard in all conditions.

These problems have now been overcome with modern building techniques and materials, giving the style and feel of a vintage day racer without the headaches.
